Latin lives on

The necessity and value of learning Latin is being increasingly questioned nowadays. Latin is often said to be an old or even a dead language, a numerus clausus to restrict admission to certain University studies, an elitist language fostering a two-tier society. Talks with critics show that they are either not informed adequately or suffer from bitter memories of their own education in Latin. Most of these sceptics have never been brought into contact with central ideas of a classical and thus humanist education.
